The immigrant is the performance that linked me and my collaborators in the same feeling, despite coming from distant countries and cultures we all share the fact of being immigrants. With this theme I wanted to show the different emotions and positive feelings that each of us feels in our day and during our experience outside through choreography and design.

The choreography begins with one dancer dance in a static position on a chair, looking towards the horizon. This scenic portrait of the chair symbolises a deserted island, immediately establishing an emotional connection with the audience through themes of isolation and loneliness.Subsequently the dancer enters the scene, we tried to create a romantic and suggestive duet

On part of the design introduced a video projection depicting trains and journeys, accompanied by voices in English, Italian and Chinese. This moment represents a thoughtful and expressive interlude, which adds emotional depth to the performance.

We decided to present Myriam’s solo using an ltalian melody adapted by our musician, to show our nationality. In this part, Myriam integrated elements from both ballet and modern dance techniques, incorporating a touch of improvisation as well.

After considering performing a solo using the chair and discussing it with the group,She

Changed her approach. She decided to focus on using the chair as a symbol of an island to highlight designers work better. This decision led her to center her solo performance around design objects and dance around them. Afterward, she made the decision to showcase the culture of the lndian dancer through her solo Kathak dance performance. And then, an exciting moment where the singer performs a song a

cappella. In the latest show, she present a solo dance show with red fans that recall the details of the dress. Through this design, we try to convey a series of emotions, from joy to hope reflected in those who, despite the difficulties, manage to be successful.The most engaging part in my opinion is at the end when the singer joins dancers on stage. Together, they perform the piece, concluding the show with an engaging finale that recreates the vibrant energy reminiscent of musicals' most captivating moments.This experience envelops the audience in an emotional journey through dance and music, leaving an indelible memory of this performance.”

In the initial stages of developing the choreography throughout the design, we thought about incorporating suitcases and veils. However, as the creative process unfolded, we opted for a simpler, cleaner approach, minimizing the use of props. Furthermore, our initial

concept was for the piece to begin with the singer's a cappella performance, however, recognizing his exceptional expressive abilities, she studied, evaluated and reconsidered the choreography, integrating it more dynamically and altering its chronological progression.

If we had more time, I probably could have explored additional collaborative choreographic sequences. In any case I am immensely satisfied with the overall process and the success of the performances.

Our show ,“The lmmigrant",

explores the immigration experience. It opens with one of the dancers in a chair, looking

beyond the horizon ,representing the sense of loss and isolation one often feels as an

immigrant. Me as the designer decided to use a chair as a sort of island in which to feel trapped ,creating origami to cover it and set the stage, I also placed balloons with writings in our native languages, trying to show a bond between us who, despite coming from different cultures. In the first part of the choreography the movements are slow with melancholic music that expresses the sadness of those who find themselves in an unknown place.

After a delicate and suggestive duet begins between the two dancers, this moment adds a romantic and engaging atmosphere to the show.We then played a video with recordings of sentences in English, ltalian and Chinese to show authenticity and cultural connection. In the video we express the discomfort and emotional difficulties experienced by

Immigrants, the use of trains and travel added a significant visual layer to the performance. In my solo the music changes, transmitting a new energy, an ltalian melody adapted by my musician, give a note of hope. We combined the pieces with contemporary and modern dance and with the help of the dancer we wanted to show her Indian culture with a katak dance part. Beyond the technique, we tried to bring out the expression of the body and face in the dancers and show their emotions. In the last part we decided to dance with the fans,taking inspiration from the type of music and the lyrics in Malay which talk about the need to pursue one's dreams and therefore the courage to come out of the shell, from that

imaginary island that has been created. In fact, the fans, with their fluid and light movements, symbolize for us a feeling of freedom and challenge to prejudices. I also used a lot of red which inspired me to represent oriental culture. In this experience I gained greater confidence in myself and my abilities, I realized that I have a great ability for organization and teamwork. This experience was stimulating, if I had more time l probably would have tried to make the theme we were talking about more evident and perhaps I would have added more group choreography. However, I feel very satisfied and proud of my group. During the rehearsals I had the opportunity to discover and bring out the talent of my group, who, even not being dance students, gave an excellent performance, demonstrating quality, determination and stage presence. I am very grateful to my musician who is also a singer in fact he has singers in music and also live, when I asked him to do some dance part he

immediately accepted, he got involved and trusted me I think I had a really successful

team experience. Each of them contributed to making the performance unique.

The goal of the performance was to send an universal message about hope, courage, celebrating diversity and unity through art.

Ultimately, positive collaboration in performance design is not just about achieving a visually stunning show; it is about building connections, breaking new ground, and pushing the boundaries of artistic expression.By recognizing the unique contributions of each collaborator and embracing the challenges and triumphs of the collaborative journey, the world of performance design becomes a space where creativity thrives and audiences are transported into unforgettable realms of artistry.
